When to Go to France | |
| Anytime is a good time for France, right? Well, not exactly. It depends upon where you want to go and what you want to see & do. | ||

As with many places, spring (April to early June) and autumn (late September to mid-November) are the best times to be in Paris, at least as far as the weather is concerned. Summer (mid-June through mid-September) is fine, though, and winter (mid-November through March) has its pleasures as well as its problems. There are no hard and fast rules about summer and winter, each can be mild or extreme, depending on the year and your luck. In winter you may find the constant lack of sunshine and the occasional bitter-cold wind more disappointing than the periodic precipitation. The sun comes up late and low, and goes down early. Skies are usually grey. Besides weather, you must consider crowds, as Paris is perhaps the most popular city destination in the world. The early weeks of February, March, April, June, and September are often busy months for trade expositions, art exhibits, fashion shows, and the like, and hotels will be heavily booked. Likewise the third weeks in September, October, and November. July and August see fewer French travelers vying for hotel rooms in Paris—the French are all away at the beach—but increased numbers of foreign tourists arrive. Paris' Average Daily
