France Travel Planner by Tom Brosnahan & Jane Fisher   Hotels in Carcassonne, France
Stay right within the medieval fortress of La Cité if you wish, or just outside, or down the hill within an easy walk, or in the modern city.

If you're coming to Carcassonne for overnight, and visiting La Cité, the fortress on the hiill, is your goal, it's most convenient to stay at one of the good hotels right within La Cité.

Most car parking, however, is in the visitor lots outside the fortress walls.

There are other, often less expensive, alternatives in the narrow streets just at the foot of the hill near the Vieux Pont.

Other hotels are on the other side of the Aude River in or near La Bastide, near the Gare (train station) and the Canal du Midi, and near the airport.
