The tidy Office de Tourisme in Amboise is on the main riverfront street, Quai du Général de Gaulle (map), an easy walk from place Michel Debré, the center of tourism that extends past the Château d'Amboise, most restaurants and cafés, and leads to the Château de Clos Lucé. Personnel speak French and English, and are extremely pleasant and helpful, offering brochures and maps for Amboise and the surrounding Loire Valley. You can also buy combination passes at the Tourist Office if you're interested in visiting several châteaux in the area. Walk away from the river on allée du Sergent Turpin, the street next to the Office de Tourisme, and up the street a short distance at No. 7 is a convenient laundromat/laundrette (laverie libre-service) called the Lav'Centre.
