Paris Travel Planner   Grandes Eaux Musicales, Versailles
The Versailles gardens are spectacular. But as part of the Grand Musical Fountain Display they create an unforgettable experience.

The gardens of Versailles are vast and spectacular, with a wide array of trees, flowers, and shrubs, as well as ornate sculptures, fountains, and more.

Simply wandering through the gardens is a feast for the senses—there is so much to see and experience, and acres of ground to cover.

The Grandes Eaux Musicales (Grand Musical Fountain Display) allow you to experience the gardens as they were during the time of Louis XIV, with all the fountains gushing and classical music wafting throughout.

The fountains, and their beautiful statuary and plantings, come to life as the water courses through. It's exciting to see the artistry of the different fountains and the beauty of the water and artwork together.

The Grandes Eaux Musicales take place on Sunday afternoons from early April until mid- to late-October. The fountains are turned on for defined periods of time, usually between 11:00 and noon and 3:30 until 5:30. There is a schedule of when individual foundations are turned on; inquire about specific times and fountains when you enter.

In addition, Saturday evenings in the summer offer the Grandes Eaux Nocturnes, or Night Fountain Display, with the fountains illuminated. and music on. This show culminates with fireworks!

Tuesdays during the summer Versailles presents Les Jardins Musicaux, or musical gardens.

The gardens require a separate admission fee on the days of the Grandes Eaux (except for those with the Passeport, which includes the Grandes Eaux).

As you might expect, the Grandes Eaux Musicales are very popular, meaning that on a nice day the crowds at the Château will be even larger than normal. Plan ahead, try to visit the Château early, and then head out to the gardens to enjoy this wonderful performance.

Between Grandes Eaux shows, you can head over to the Grand Trianon, the Petit Trianon, and/or Marie-Antoinette's Hamlet.
